Today we concluded Letters to the Next President at Southside Church with another off the charts musical experience provided by the Dave Matthews Tribute band. These guys are just about as close an anyone could get to a front row seat at Lakewood Amphitheatre… the musicianship is incredible!… and they still have a sax player (too soon… too soon, I know). Unbelievable start to the service with a 4 song set finishing up with a live version of Ants Marching that had me wanting to go buy a 32 piece drum kit and start shakin off the rust on the ole chops… their drummer is the REAL DEAL. check out the video and you’ll know what I’m talkin about.
Followed them up with our 6′5″ lead pastor Chris Patton with some of the most riveting announcements I have ever heard about NEXT, finishing the series, and shouts out to the first time guest types.
Reuben Bidez did a phenomenal job leading us through what became our theme song for this series, Micah 6:8 and it could not have been a better more worshipful call to leadership in/for our nation. Great job Reubz… I’ve already asked God to start sharin some of your skillz with those of us less fortunate: like myself. the kid can sing
Andy finished up the series with the story of a Pharaoh and drew a brilliant correlation to our current situation socially and economically: we are a spoiled nation, with spoiled nation problems. We need leadership committed to leading our nation, not pleasing our nation… 7 gazillion dollar bail out anyone?
